Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has maintained that he will be in the 2022 presidential race.

Speaking on Citizen Television's Jeff Koinange Live on Sunday, the county chief revealed that plans are already in place in line with the same, stating that he has already embarked on realizing the dream.

He said that he has since assembled a campaign and strategy team, a crew which he said involves foreigners, adding that he is estimating allocating a budget of  Sh17 billion.

"I am very serious in my bid and I already even have a team that will handle my campaigns which also includes foreigners. I know the procedure entails a lot of money and I am estimating a 17 billion shilling budget," Mutua said.

When asked the reason behind his presidential candidature, Mutua said he is simply responding to Kenyans' demands.

Mutua said Kenyans have requested him to lead them in that capacity.

"Kenyans have approached and asked me to vie for the position. Kenyans are in need of a new and fresh kind of leadership and they have seen it in me," he added.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader is likely to face among others Deputy President William Ruto who is also eyeing the post in the same race.
