Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has asked the leaders of different churches to enlighten brethren over good leadership. Mutua said that the church is not only a place for spiritual nourishment but also enlightenment. He was speaking at the opening of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) Lower Eastern Regional Conference at ABC Bomani, Machakos.
“The role of the church in society is one of leadership and stewardship. The church should take a lead in providing civic education to the citizens who will be enlightened on quality leadership traits and ultimately elect the right leaders into office, “ he posted on his Facebook Page.
The governor has since filed an appeal at the Supreme Court following the nullification of his win. The county boss has faulted the appellant court of misunderstanding the findings. He also maintained that he will not give up in the fight against corruption.
“We are surprised by their finding. It is very clear they misunderstood what was presented before them. We are going to appeal to the Supreme Court. We are still in office. I will continue discharging my duties,” said Mutua.
The fate of his leadership now lies in the hands of the Supreme Court after Former Kathaini MP Wavinya Ndeti won the case at the Court of appeal.
