Governor Alfred Mutua has rubbished claims that he might deputise Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 general election.Mutua said the reports being circulated in a section of media were false.Speaking to journalists at Machakos Town on Tuesday, the Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party leaders said he has not been approached by anyone in regards to the 2022 presidential election.Mutua said his main focus is to serve Machakos residents, adding that he will discuss 2022 politics when that time comes.“People should stop speculating about 2022 and give us an opportunity to serve in our current positions,” said Mutua.The county boss said 2022 politics will play out when the right time comes.The Machakos Governor has declared interest in the presidential seat in the 2022 general election.There have been speculations that Mutua is among the politicians being fronted to deputise DP Ruto in 2022.Last week, a list of politicians believed to be possible running mates to DP Ruto surfaced online, with Mt Kenya region said to be fronting Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, among others possible running mates to DP Ruto.Ruto is expected to fly the Jubilee Party ticket after the expiry of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s second term.
