Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has lashed out at the Opposition alliance NASA over its presidential line up unveiled at Uhuru Park last week.

Speaking on Sunday at the Maendeleo Chap Chap headquarters, Mutua claimed that the Opposition has nothing new to offer to Kenyans, adding that the outfit's unity is only meant to serve self-interests.

"Their people are still wallowing in poverty with no essential needs. This is a typical case of player who fails to perform in a small league and still believes can perform in a bigger one," he said.

"We want line-ups that take into account development. Not just alliances behind tribal cocoons. At the end of the day it is not about me as a leader but Kenyans' needs," he added.

The NASA coalition is a conglomeration of five political parties that include: Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Wiper Democratic Movement, Amani National Congress, Ford Kenya and Bomet governor Isaac Rutto's Chama Cha Mashinani.

The outfit has named ODM Leader Raila Odinga as the Presidential flag bearer, and will battle it out with Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta during the August polls.
