Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has dismissed Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka’s January 30 swearing in.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap  (MCC) Governor has termed   the planned  swearing-in as ‘meaningless’ and total waste of time.

Speaking to journalists outside the Machakos Law courts on Tuesday, Mutua said that Raila and Kalonzo are engaging in baseless fights, noting  that it is time they quit politics.

The governor said that it is. shameful for NASA to be pushing for a swearing in that is not backed by the constitution.

The Machakos governor said that swearing in Raila and Kalonzo does not change the fact the Uhuru Kenyatta is the duly and legitimately elected president.

Mutua asked Raila and Kalonzo to stop forcing themselves to power, stating that the two leaders were rejected by Kenyans on the ballot in last years’ election.

“NASA should stop this swearing in ‘madness’ and allow president Uhuru Kenyatta’s government time and space to work for Kenyans,” he said.

The Machakos county boss accused the opposition of plotting to destabilize the country.

Mutua said that the country is yet to recover from last year’s prolonged election period. The governor  urged Kenyans to ignore the opposition’s propaganda politicians and work with the government that is duly in office.

NASA has insisted on swearing in Raila and Kalonzo as the people’s president and deputy president respectively on January 30 at Uhuru  Park in Nairobi  even as pressure mounts on   the opposition  to call off the   swearing in and dialogue with Jubilee government.

The opposition has ruled out any dialogue with Jubilee, saying that the 'window' for talks closed a long time ago.
