Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua is set to host a youth convention aimed at engaging youth in government strategies and projects.
In an announcement posted on his social media pages, Dr Mutua said youth who form majority of the country's population have been disadvantaged in terms of jobs and community stability.
Mutua further said the youth convention, the first in the county, will enable youth to receive mentorship from successful people.
"To this end, I am inviting youth from Machakos County and the region, to the first ever Machakos Youth Convention which will be held at Machakos People's Park on Friday,” read part of the post.
The governor further stated the convention will enable youth learn how to acquire government tenders.
"The convention will engage youth on empowerment and how to benefit from government projects as well as the tenders. We will also discuss the plight of youth in leadership,” he added.
This comes a few months after the Maendeleo Chap Chap Chair held the first Ukambani professional meeting which was termed by other area leaders as a political strategy ahead of the 2017 elections.
