Addressing the press at Mitumbini Primary School in his constituency on Friday after issuing projects' cheques, Mbui said Mutua should settle down to work and emulate his counterparts Governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) counties.

"Electioneering period has just ended few months ago and you have began 2022 politics, how will this benefit Machakos residents," Mbui said.

Mbui criticized the governor for allegedly using public resources to traverse the country in the name of 'bench marking' tours.

He said Mutua's trips with his staff including the Nyeri County tour are not beneficial to Machakos residents in any way.

Mbui argued the funds the governor is using to move around the country campaigning for his 2022 presidential bid is from the public coffers which out to have been used to complete stalled projects in Machakos County.

"Our schools have no enough ECD teachers and Machakos hospitals lack medicine. We wonder when you go away and seek presindetial support, when will these be sorted," Mbui added.

He trashed Mutua's proposed ‘Ukambani Unity Meeting’ terming it as mockery to the previous Ukambani Leaders Unity Forum held at Komarok in Matungulu, Machakos County on April 2, 2018.

Mbui told locals to boycott the meeting if called by the governor.

"We had a colorful meeting at Komarock but he termed it as not development oriented, he has organized his meeting. We are aware he will ferry people to his meeting. Kindly be careful," Mbui said.

Addressing the press at a Nyeri hotel, Mutua had said the community is still undecided on who to vote for in the 2022 general elections.

He said Kalonzo purports to command the region politically but he is misguided by his Wiper party leadership.

Mutua said he will continue to lobby for support not only in Ukambani but the entire country to ensure he clinches the seat smoothly.

The Machakos governor is in Nyeri for two days together with a delegation from the county government of more than 90 officials.
