Over the years the relationship between the executive and the County Assembly of Machakos has been strained, planned impeachments and non-ending political grumbling have been witnessed.
However, Governor Alfred Mutua has vowed to woo majority of the MCA's if not all to his Maendeleo Chap! Chap! bandwagon.
Giving his speech at Machakos County Assembly on Tuesday, Mutua said he was ready to put away his differences and embrace every leader irrespective of his party for the common good of the people.
Mutua said he was aware some of the MCA's prayed for the court ruling to go against him but their hopes flunked.
“I know there are some, maybe even in this house, who were hoping that the court case would go against me but the democratic will of Machakos people has been upheld," Mutua said.
"I am your Governor and you are my County Assembly, I am stuck with you and you are stuck with me," Mutua added.
Mutua said his presidential bid was still on as he hopes to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He urged the MCA's to support him.
Machakos senator Boniface kabaka said every leader should focus on service delivery to the people now that the country and county have sitting President and Governor respectively including a county assembly.
Kabaka spoke at the same event.
“90% of the petitions in Machakos County have been dealt with, the time for politics is over. It is time to roll up our sleeves and deliver what we promised the electorates keeping in mind that we will be held accountable after five years," Kabaka said.
The MCA's led by the speaker Florence Mwangangi and Majority leader Francis Ngunga promised to bury the hatchet and join hands in developing Machakos.
