Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has called upon political leaders to now concentrate on serving Kenyans following the completion of the political season.
Speaking at a funeral in Machakos town on Saturday, also attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mutua called upon leaders to stop politicking as its time is over.
He urged those eyeing leadership slots in the 2022 general polls to wait for the right time and stop pulling the country back to the campaign period.
"Politics is now over and it is now time to work and serve Kenyans, those of us who are out for leadership slots in the 2022 elections must wait until the time is ripe," said the county chief who has since announced his presidential candidature.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader also hailed the ruling Jubilee Party praising President Kenyatta for his mega achievements.
With the region being predominantly deemed to be lying towards the opposition side, Mutua maintained that Jubilee's track record has made the President a celebrated figure in the Ukambani area.
"Our people are with you and support your policies and efforts because you have proved that you are a leader with a vision and has delivered most of your pledges," said Mutua.
He is expected to vie for the post on his Chapchap party in a race that is likely to see him contest against Uhuru's deputy William Ruto of Jubilee Party.
