Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has urged Kenyans to maintain peace as they wait for the final announcement of the fresh presidential results.The Governor said Kenyans should not be incited to engage in violence by selfish politicians who were opposed to the Thursday repeat poll.Speaking to journalists at the county offices on Friday, Mutua said the country needs to remain peaceful and united despite the heated political environment.“I want to appeal to Kenyans to maintain peace and unity as they wait for the results of the repeat presidential election,” said Mutua.Governor Mutua urged police to ensure security across the country, and condemned acts of violence witnessed in some parts of the country on Thursday.The county boss asked the police to investigate and arrest people who could have incited Kenyans to violence.He pleaded with young people not to be used as agents of violence, adding that the country has to move past the election period and remain stable for economic prosperity.The vote tallying and verification exercise is underway at the national tallying center in Bomas, Nairobi with IEBC expected to declare the winner of the election once voting takes place in Migori, Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay on Saturday.
