Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has trashed Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's Sh50 million roofing project.
Ndeti said the initiative launched by the governor on Wednesday, was a misplaced priority and mockery to devolution.
"Mr. Mutua has continued to undermine devolution again by shamelessly sinking 50 Million of taxpayers money to projects that have no impact at all to our people," Ndeti posted on her Facebook page.
She said Mutua's move of placing iron sheets on worn out roofs is disrespect to humanity.
"Branding iron sheets his party name using Public Funds and placing them on worn out rafts and distributing them to poverty-stricken Kenyans is disrespect to humanity," Ndeti posted.
Ndeti said it's evident that the governor has failed to empower youths and women to be able to sustain themselves.
"Sustainable development should involve improving productivity in agriculture, investment on human capital, providing a macroeconomic stability, empowering youth and women groups and an all-inclusive consultative development ideology," Ndeti said.
Mutua launched the roofing project in Masii and Vyulya areas in Mwala Sub County on Wednesday.
The initiative has, however, elicited lots of criticism from residents as well as leaders from Machakos County and parts of the Ukambani region.
Several of Mutua's critics have termed the project as misplaced and unsustainable.
