Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has called for political tolerance and humility amid the political uncertainty in the country.Mutua warns that the current political impasse is dangerous and could result to something else if politicians allied to Jubilee and NASA do not embrace tolerance.Addressing residents in Machakos Town on Saturday, Mutua appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga to hold dialogue in a bid to end the political impasse. The Machakos Governor said the country is in a state of fear, confusion and anxiety and only Uhuru and Raila can help restore calm.“We must remain united and peaceful as Kenyans and politicians despite the political challenges we are facing,” said Mutua.Mutua said the country is staring at a political and economic crisis if the political impasse remains unresolved. The Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party leader at the same time urged Raila to reconsider his withdrawal from the repeat presidential race.He argued that Raila’s withdrawal has complicated the political situation in the country.Mutua also pleaded with religious leaders to pray for the country’s peace and unity.Raila withdrew from the October 26 repeat poll over claims that IEBC and Jubilee are not committed to electoral reforms. The former Prime Minister also alleged that the repeat poll result has already been predetermined in favour of Uhuru.IEBC has however maintained that the October 26 repeat poll will go on as planned, adding that Raila is still in the race and has to sign form 24A to formally withdraw from the race.
