Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has hit out at former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti asking her to keep off county affairs.
Mutua says Ndeti’s claims that he is under-performing are misplaced and part of her alleged propaganda to soil his administration.
In an interview with a local daily on Wednesday, Mutua accused Ndeti of running a smear campaign aimed at derailing his development agenda.
The Maendeleo Chap governor rubbished Ndeti’s calls for his resignation on grounds of under performing.
“I cannot take instructions from the likes of Wavinya Ndeti because she is not the one who elected me to office but rather Machakos people,” Mutua said.
The governor said he will no longer pay attention to Ndeti’s political tantrums.
Mutua said his focus is to deliver services to Machakos people.
He asked residents to shun politicians who are keen on causing divisions instead of promoting cohesion and development.
On Tuesday, Ndeti called for Mutua’s resignation.
The Wiper politician claimed that the governor has failed to deliver on his mandate.
She accused Mutua of concentrating on his 2022 presidential bid at the expense of delivering services to the people.
Ndeti and Mutua have been embroiled in political arguments since 2013.
The former Kathiani MP unsuccessfully contested for the governor seat in 2013 and 2017 polls losing to Mutua.
She has lodged an appeal challenging the High court ruling that upheld Mutua's re-election in last year's general election.
