Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has warned his rival Chirau Ali Mwakwere against engaging in smear campaigns.
Mvurya accused Mwakwere of allegedly spreading malicious propaganda aimed at tainting his name.
Speaking to journalists in Kwale on Tuesday, Mvurya said he will not allow Makwere and other politicians allied to the opposition to malign his name.
He accused Mwakwere of using propaganda tactics to woo voters.
“Let Mwakwere engage supporters on issues and stop dragging my name into messy and malicious propaganda,” he said as quoted by The Star.
The ODM rebel governor said Makwere has nothing to offer Kwale people adding that he will teach him a political lesson he will never forget.
He accused the former Kenyan Ambassador to Tanzania of failing to initiate any development project when he served in government.
Mvurya said he is not afraid of battling Mwakwere in the August polls promising to defeat him by a huge margin.
“I will show Mwakwere and others that politics is not about propaganda but issue,” he said.
Mvurya urged locals to shun propagandists who he claimed are peddling divisive politics, and urged them to vet aspirants eying seats before voting for them on August 8.
