Kwale governor Salim Mvurya has asked residents to disregard calls by the opposition coalition NASA to boycott the October 26 presidential repeat polls.
Speaking on Wednesday, the County chief noted that the Supreme Court had directed IEBC to conduct fresh polls within 60 days and therefore no one can go against the order.
He used the opportunity to campaign for the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta, observing that the Head of State means well for the country.
"There will be voting on October 26 because the Supreme Court ruled so. Ignore those claiming there will be no voting and come out in large numbers to vote for Uhuru Kenyatta," he stated.
Mvurya further took issue with the anti-IEBC protests organized by NASA, calling on the locals to uphold peace.
“Do not allow to be used to cause violence by selfish leaders yet their families are at homes resting or even abroad,” he observed.
