Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya on Monday led other leaders to a meeting with the people of Mwereni ward to discuss the recent sale of land in Mwereni ranch.
As County leadership, they resolved that:
1. Mwereni Group Ranch is not and has never been a settlement scheme.
2. Land within the ranch is Community land and therefore not for sale. No individual or a group of people can purport to have the right to sale land within the ranch.
3. All transactions; past or recent, in respect to the land are illegal. Those who claim to have bought any part of the said land should seek redress from the court.
4. All those involved in the recent fraudulent land sale should record a statement with the DCI; including the County Land Adjudicating Officer and the Surveyors who were adversely mentioned for their role in the alleged subdivision of the said land.
As the governor, Mvurya said he would endeavor to stand with the residents to tackle all land issues.
