Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has warned that Mwereni and Mwereni ward as a whole is not a settlement area.

This follows reports of land grabbing in the area.

On Thursday, the governor issued a statement from his office, saying Mwereni ward was under group ranch and no individual had the mandate to sell any chunk of land from the ranch.

"Whoever claims to have bought a piece of land from Mwereni should thus seek redress in court," said the governor.

Mvurya warned that his administration would not allow Kwale residents to be put in a state of unnecessary anxiety because of selfish desires of an individual.

"The County Government of Kwale remains steadfast on land issues and we’ll not stop until amicable solutions are found," said the governor.
