[Photo/tuko.co.ke]The governor of Turkana who is also the chairman of the Council of Governors delivered a powerful speech in Nyeri today during the Constitutional Commissions Conference held in the county. In his speech, Governor Nanok vouched for a return to the values that will make Kenya great and more prosperous. He also bemoaned the impact that corruption was having on development in the country.''If there is one thing that has tainted the many gains that counties have made it is graft... We must do everything possible to eliminate graft from governance. The region is moving, the continent is moving, the world is moving. And we must be part of this change. We cannot be left behind because of primordial tendencies that compromise development in favour of personal interest. Time to eat must come to an end. And we must be ready for the consequences of corruption.'' Governor Nanok said, drawing a sustained applause from his audience. He also called on relevant institutions to crack the whip on the corrupt and those who fail to use public funds appropriately and transparently. The realisation of the country's potential, he contended, would depend on the efforts at ridding the country of corruption.
