Addressing the press in Kitui town on Tuesday, Ngilu said Miguna’s continued detention at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is creating a bad picture for the country.

She said Miguna’s return was based on court orders hence the government should adhere to the orders.

“Miguna’s detention at the JKIA is unfortunate and the government should allow him into the country unconditionally,” Ngilu said.

Governor Ngilu said the controversial lawyer is harmless and should not be treated as a criminal.

“The government is getting it wrong by continuing to detain Miguna at the JKIA Airport, he should be allowed in unconditionally,” Ngilu added.

Ngilu said the rule of Law has to be adhered to stating that Miguna should not be treated or subjected to cruelty.

She asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga to intervene and secure the lawyer's safe entry into the country.

Miguna is still being held at JKIA a day after jetting in from Canada where he had been deported to on February 6, 2018.

On Tuesday, High Court Judge Roselyn Aburili ordered for Miguna’s immediate release.

The Judge ruled that Miguna’s detention at the JKIA is illegal and he should be allowed into the country unconditionally.

Mixed reactions from politicians and leaders across the political divide continues to emerge on Miguna’s troubles.
