Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Ngilu said Vethi Nyenze’s win is good news for the locals, especially women.

The governor hailed Vethi describing her as a performer who will not let locals down.

“Kitui West constituents have made a good decision by electing Vethi because I know her as a performer who will deliver on development,” Ngilu said.

Ngilu said the rise of women into leadership especially in Kitui is laudable.

The Kitui governor pledged to work with Vethi and other elected leaders to propel development in the entire county.

“We will work together to deliver development that our people have been missing for years,” Ngilu added.

Vethi Nyenze was elected in the Kitui West by-election garnering 14,372 votes.

The Wiper politician trounced four other candidates who were eyeing the seat.

She has vowed to tirelessly work for the people and reached out to her opponents for partnership.

The Kitui West seat had been left vacant following the death of Francis Nyenze on December 6, 2017 after long battle with colon cancer.
