The country cannot allow Deputy President William Ruto to sabotage peace deal between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, Nyamira governor John Nyagarama has said.
Over the weekend, Ruto criticised unnamed people of allegedly plotting to initiate major constitutional changes to create more posts.
"If the handshake was about that, then we won't allow. It must be all about development and nothing else," he said.
For almost a month now, the two protagonists have been having a cordial relationship with the country enjoying relative calmness.
And Nyagarama now wants the DP to support any changes that could solve perennial electoral problems in the country.
"The DP should not run away from the fact that there is a problem. If amending the constitution is the solution, let us all support the move," he said.
Although details of Raila-Uhuru meeting remains scanty, sources say radical changes in the governance system could be witnessed in the coming days.
