Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has emerged the best in a survey conducted in Kisumu, Nairobi and Mombasa counties.
Prof Nyong'o was voted the best performing governor in a study conducted by Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA), to establish the performance of counties bosses in the three devolved units.
He secured a 56% rating. Governor Hassan Joho of Mombasa came in second with a 53% rating, whereas Nairobi's Mike Sonko came in third with 44% rating.
The survey was conducted last month, a week after the annual devolution conference.
Some of the main issues that were examined in the survey were; whether devolution is working, public participation,, water and sanitation, and access to healthcare.
All the three governors scored well in respect to street lighting but scored poorly in sewerage systems.
In regards to whether devolution is working, less than 50% of residents in Mombasa and Nairobi counties felt that devolution has remained the same for the last four months.
In Kisumu, over 50% of the residents felt that devolution was working and has helped improve their lives.
