[Photo|Governor Nyong'o Communication Unit]Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong'o, is the new patron of the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS).The former Health Cabinet Minister, was given the new job, at a ceremony held at his Office, Monday, with the KRCS team being led by KRCS Governor Dr Mohamud Said, alongside several other Western region officials headed by the chairperson Isaac Adede and the Programme Co-ordinator of the Global Fund.Nyong'o then made the decision to become a life long member of the society by paying Sh5,000, joining the over 100,000 membership.
The team took the Governor through their various dockets which include; Disaster Management; Health; Food Security; Water and Sanitation and Hospitality.The County government and the Kenya Red Cross agreed to work together in areas such as; Setting up a County Ambulatory and Emergency Services with a command centre and hotline; Draft an MoU; Establish a chain of command for disaster management, among others.
