Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has reshuffled his Cabinet retaining Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa who withdrew his candidature as the county chief's running mate on May 31 as chief executive.
In the changes announced on Monday at a press conference in his office, Ojaamong said the changes were not political bearing in mind he is defending his seat against independent candidate and Funyula MP Paul Otuoma.Wangalwa who is now the CeC in charge of Economic Development, Trade, Cooperatives and Industrialisation and at one point fell out with the Ojaamong was spared the axe.The reshuffle saw Wangalwa's Chief Officer James Akedi retain his position.In other changes, the CeC for Youth, Sports, Tourism, Culture and Social Services Martin Kafwa took over the Lands, Housing and Urban Development docket on an acting capacity.He replaces Bernadette Muyomi who recently resigned from the department citing personal reasons.The Chief Officer in charge of Public Works, Transport, Roads and Energy Moses Weunda on an acting capacity took over operations at the Water department as chief officer replacing Timon Mboga. Mr Mboga is hospitalised.Public Works CeC Bernard Yaite will now take over operations at the Water department on an acting capacity.He replaces Gregory Odeke who resigned to join politics. Odeke is vying for the Teso North Constituency parliamentary seat on an independent ticket.The changes did not affect other departments.
