Ongwae described Nyamweya's claims as cheap political populism meant to reflect the Governor and his office in bad light.

Speaking at Nduru Boys High School, Ongwae told Nyamweya to stop making alarming statements against him and other leaders in public without facts saying such political mudslinging was meant to incite the public against him and his leadership.

"I am making it very clear that allegations made by Hon Manson Nyamweya at Tabaka market that I have bought a residential house worthy Sh50m are false and only aimed meant to tarnish my name. Currently I am staying at a rental house belonging to lawyer Fred Orora and that is where I operate from," clarified Ongwae.

He said, he welcomed anybody aspiring to challenge him for the governor's seat in 2017, but warned all his competitors to go slow since he was still in office exercising his mandate entrusted to him by the electorate of Kisii County till the next elections.

The governor warned politicians from the county against political mudslinging against his character and leadership, reminding them to respect him and the office of the governor of Kisii County until the end of his current term, during which they will have a chance to challenge him at the ballot box.
