Ongwae was speaking at Gusii stadium during the Jamhuri Day celebrations and said already road contractors have assessed the roads to be repaired.
He pointed out Nyanchwa – Suneka among other roads to be worked on.
According to Ongwae, good roads will ease transport of goods from remote areas to the market.
“We will repair and upgrade roads to enable farmers and traders transport their products to the market without difficulties," Ongwae said.
The county boss assured that he is ready to work with his opponents for the sake of unity and development in the county.
He commended residents for remaining calm before, during and after the divisive politics the country witnessed.
“Kisiis we are peace loving people. Those with a different perception about our community should now follow our footsteps to maintain peace," stated Ongwae.
He urged motorists exercise caution on roads during the festive season.
“In the past few days, the country has lost over 50 people through road accidents. Motorists should adhere to traffic rules, laws and regulations to prevent loss of lives because many Kenyans will be travelling to their rural homes to celebrate Christmas and Happy new year with their families”, Ongwae added.
