This comes just two weeks after residents raised alarm over how sewage was being channelled into rivers.

Residents said despite the promise made by the county government that they would have addressed the matter sewage was still flowing into rivers still and contaminating water in the process.

"The Kisii MCAs, Chief Officers and ministers went to Mombasa to benchmark on how to keep their city clean. They are busy using our funds instead of addressing the matter," Robert Ombui a resident said.

Mr Ombui added that electorates felt shortchanged after they overwhelmingly voted for the MCAs and Governor James Ongwae.

"Our votes are now a waste because we elected non-performers. They remain silent whenever relevant county officers fail to perform their duties as stipulated by law. We are now regretting for the decisions we made," he added.

Mary Motari asked members of the public to be cautious whenever taking water so that they may not consume contaminated water.

"I am urging residents to treat water before consumption to avoid contacting water borne diseases," said Ms Motari.
