In its quest to address water shortage at the biggest regional referral hospital, Kisii County government has commissioned a borehole at the facility.

Governor James Ongwae announced that his government will also construct a 250,000-litre underground tank and an additional water treatment plant.

“Construction of a 150-bed ward and a 100-body capacity state of the art mortuary in this hospital that serves neighboring counties like Nyamira, Migori, Homabay, Siaya, and Narok is almost complete. My administration is putting elaborate measures to ensure that there is enough water in the wards, the outpatient wing, and the mortuary,” said the Governor.“

"This is the first borehole in a hospital built more than 97 years ago. We will ensure that there is proper water reticulation as water is a crucial commodity,” he added.

Ongwae added that the establishment of Sh2billion cancer diagnostic treatment center is on course adding that it will reduce the number of referrals.

“In the area of medical services, KTRH will be close to none once we implement our projects,” said Governor Ongwae.
