This comes after the hawkers accused the county government for harassing and forcibly evicting hawkers from the roadside where they have been operating their businesses from.

The ODM governor said he will not succumb to threats from hawkers saying hawkers must operate at designated areas.

"The truth is that we need no hawkers in Kisii town they should go and work from the market," he said.

Ongwae warned local politicians against inciting hawkers to cause mayhem in the town.

“Some local leaders who are aspiring to be future politicians should shun inciting our people to cause chaos in town. Such people must be ignored and if possible be kicked out from the community because they want to destroy what the county government has struggled to build,” he added.

He urged hawkers who were displaced from their places of work to ensure they are operating at recommended places and not along the roadside.
