ODM deputy leader Wycliffe Oparanya says he will easily occupy State House in 2022 polls should his party boss Raila Odinga back his bid.
While Raila has maintained that he will not run for presidency again, it is however not clear whom he will support.
Already, Deputy President William Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi have shown intentions to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"By 2022, we shall have 1 million registered votersin Kakamega County alone. This will be a major boost for my presidential bid.
"I urge my supporters to remain focused and I challenge my party boss Raila Odinga to stand with me. His support will guarantee me automatic victory," he said.
In the Orange party, Oparanya's equal and Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has also shown intentions of contesting for presidency.
This comes amid calls to have a united Luhya voting bloc with Ford Kenya and ANC pushing for a single presidential candidate in 2022.
