Kisii county Governor James Ongwae has opened a six beds intensive care unit (ICU) wing at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Speaking on Tuesday at the kisii level six hospital, Ongwae said the ICU wing will provide the necessary services to patients since there are enough machines.

“I have opened the ICU wing in Kisii level six and this is the first time the wing is opened in this hospital ever,” said Governor Ongwae.

Ongwae also opened pharmacy store where all drugs will be kept and supplied to various health centers and dispensaries across the county

“As from today I want to assure county residents that there is no need of transferring or referring patients to Moi Eldoret hospital or Kenyatta hospital, there is an ICU here which will do what is necessary for a patients,” added Ongwae.

He also said his county government is going to add 25 more hospital health workers at the ICU unit.

Ongwae promised that the ICU department will be under proper management at the hospital.
