This comes few months after Governor James Ongwae launched a cleaning exercise that aimed to clean all nine constituencies constituting the county.

But today, many people in the streets of the town and its environs were satisfied with the state of cleanliness in the town, courtesy of the county government.

“I think sanity has been brought to the town. Unlike in the past, currently we are not experiencing awful smell from dumping sites in the town. This shows that they are doing tremendous job to prevent residents from contracting airborne diseases,” said Odongo Willis, a resident.

He said the situation looks the same in suburbs of the town, adding that the initiative has been a success.

“It is also worthy to note that it isn’t only in town you are seeing this great work. When you go to areas like Mwembe, Jogoo, Nyanchwa, Daraja Mbili and many more you will see by yourself,” he added.

Millicent Nyaboke, a businesswoman at Municipal market, said the place has since been cleaned up, making it conducive for them to carry out their businesses well.

“When you compare this place with how it used to be two or three years ago, then you will discover a tremendous change. We are happy with sanity measures that county government has come up with,” she said.

However, they asked county leadership to employ cleaners who will be mandated to remove waste products from their area of resident.
