Speaking in Isiolo Girls’ National School, Doyo said all pupils who attain a mean grade of A- and above will receive cash rewards to boost competition and raise the academic performance of the county.

“Those pupils who attain a mean grade of A will receive Sh100,000 while those who attain A- will be given Sh50,000. There is nothing better than taking home a lump sum of money after spending four years in school,” said the governor.

He further promised to speed up the disbursement of bursary funds for students in the county by avoiding the cumbersome IFIMIS system and issuing cheques to schools to avoid interruption of learning in school due to insufficient funds.

“In the next two weeks the cheque for this school accompanied by a list of beneficiaries will be ready to facilitate learning and avoid disruption,” said the governor.

Doyo further promised to seek for experienced examiners from established national schools such as Mang’u and Alliance high schools to guide the pupils of Isiolo Girls’ National School on how to tackle examination questions in order to improve performance.

Speaking at the same venue, Isiolo County Education Director Lucy Gachu expressed appreciation to the relative calm being experienced in Isiolo schools despite the sweeping wave of unrest in the country and attributed it to the honesty that was revealed in last years’ examination results.
