Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma has promised to involve youths in the county’s development agenda.
Ranguma said they will support the youths in whatever they decide during the Ugen Youth Summit 2014 to be held in Kisumu.
He was speaking at his office on Friday when he met with youth leaders from various organizations.
Ranguma said they will put money in any development that will be decided by the youths as a way of supporting them and addressing the issues on food security within the county.
He said they have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Youth Enterprise funds hence with this steps our youths will benefit a lot from it.
The President of the World Youth Parliament Kenya Kennedy Omulo said they have organized youth’s public debate within the county to discuss on the issues of policy formulation agenda for them.
Omulo said they want to provide a platform for youths to engage with their county government and to learn on various opportunities they can explore within the county and National Government.
He said they want to give them opportunity to make policy contribution on the areas of policy, entrepreneur and governance.
“They should make sure to participate, because through the debate they will learn a lot on income generating activities, good governors among others,” said the youths’ President.
He said they are going to share fact sheets with the youths for them to understand how best they can share the cost of various funds and benefits to change negative thought concerning the youth’s funds.
