Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago on Tuesday raised at least Sh28 million for his re-election campaigns.

The fundraiser, which brought together members of the business community, county staff, athletes, saw one prominent farmer give the governor Sh2 million.

At least 600 county residents attended the Tuesday night dinner, including Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos. The event was held at Gulab Lochab Hall.

Businessmen who attended the fundraiser hailed Mandago for putting up street lights in Eldoret town, hence creating an enabling business environment.

"Now we have street lights, good roads and security which enable us to do business for 24 hours daily,” Joseph Wainaina, a businessman, said.

The Governor asked the county resident go give him a second chance in office to complete his development agenda.

"I have laid foundation for taking Uasin Gishu to the next level. Now we are aiming to ensure every home has piped water by 2018. Uasin Gishu does not need a new person who will have (have to learn) the job. We just need a second term to complete what we are already doing," said Governor Mandago, as reported by the Star.

He pledged to create more jobs for the youth, support women groups and build more industries for more employment creation.

The governor will battle with businessman Bundotich Zedekiah, Felix Butit and Edward Serem for the Jubilee party ticket.
