Kisii county residents and Governor James Ongwae, have dismissed the just released EACC report indicating the county among the top 5 most corrupt countrywide.
The residents who were contractors and in wse sector graft had been cited read political mischief in the EACC report defending the governor against engaging in the vice.
During the third county annual conference Kisii central sub-county devolution dialogue at culture hall, Jackson Momanyi, claimed the anti-corruption body did not involve them as respondents in the research.
He labeled the report a propaganda and a calculated move by some selfish politicians to undermine the governor’s impressive track record.
Momanyi claimed critics of the recent successful Kisii Entrepreneurship Summit hosted by the governor were bent on discouraging investors wooed at the occasion.
Jackson Ongubo alleged enemies of the county were out to throw spanners into the already completed projects in the county through submission of false reports on graft.
Fielding media questions outside the hall Governor Ongwae, denied any involvement in corrupt activities and described the research and final report as wanting.
According to Ongwae, the questions asked touched on non-devolved functions portraying him as being responsible for iniquities of the national government.
The governor claimed the research should have been conducted in the rural areas where a majority of the people live as opposed to interviewing a few urbanites.
Ongwae, however, announced a myriad of measures put in place by his government to tackle the vice.
The measures he added included underway plans in the county assembly to amend the bursary law transferring its disbursement from MCAS’ to parent committees.
