Since his death a week ago, many have been remembering the late Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Cornelius Korir as a peacemaker and mediator.

This is due to the many peacebuilding activities that he has been involved in his over 20 years as a Catholic priest and a Bishop.

However, on Sunday, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang revealed the other side of Bishop Korir that had not been mentioned before.

Speaking during a mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Eldoret, Sang said Bishop Korir was a firm believer in Education.

"I know everybody has celebrated Bishop across the country as a great peacemaker; that for sure he was: however the other side of Bishop that has not been mentioned by many is that he was a firm believer in education," noted governor Sang.

"Every other time I talked with the bishop on phone or I visited him in his office one of the first things he could always ask me was, 'how are my schools doing.' Most of the very good schools in Nandi county that are under the mentorship and leadership of Bishop Korir," he added.Ends
