Mandera governor Ali Roba will face a hard time in his second term in office due to the opposition majority in the assembly.

Garre Council of Elders and the MCAs supported governor Roba during his first term in office, but this time round things seems to be different.

The Economic Freedom Party, EFP enjoys the majority in the assembly with 17 elected and 10 nominated MCAs.

But Roba's Jubilee  has 10 elected and 7 nominated MCAs.

EDP has dominated the House leadership, including the speaker’s seat.

EFP has 5 MPs in the National Assembly while Jubilee has 2.

When the assembly opened on September 28, EFP MCAs walked out of the assembly when Roba started giving his speech. He urged the opposition members to bury their political differences and serve the people equally.

EFP members in the assembly have also vowed to oppose the seven executive nominees Roba presented to the assembly for approval.

An EFP MCA who spoke requested for anonymity said  Roba tested the waters with the seven nominees.
