Mandera Governor Ali Roba has rubbished the petition filed by his rival Hassan Noor Hassan challenging his re-election in the just concluded general election.
Roba says that Noor is still living in denial adding that he won reelection fairly.
The Jubilee governor claims that Noor’s petition is malicious aimed at stalling development and denying locals access to services.
In an interview with journalists in Mandera Town on Monday, Roba said that he is ready to defend his win in court.
The Jubilee governor said that claims that he rigged the election are false, adding that the court will upheld his re-election.
Governor Roba however said that Noor has a right to file the petition but warned him against using the same to cause rifts among Mandera people.
“I am ready to defend my re-election in court and I am confident that the court will upheld my election since I won on fair grounds,” he said as quoted by the People Daily.
Roba urged Mandera residents not to worry saying that everything will be under control as he fights the petition in court.
Noor filed the petition at the Milimani High court in Nairobi on Monday, saying that he has massive evidence that Governor Roba rigged the gubernatorial election.
The former Rift-Valley Provincial Commissioner (PC) who was contesting for the seat on Economic Freedom Party (EFP) lost narrowly to Roba in the recently concluded general election.
