Mandera Governor Ali Roba has launched a scathing attack on the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) aligned to Economic Freedom Party (EFP) after the rejection of the candidates he had presented for approval to join his cabinet. The county boss said that the legislator’s action is a clear sign of political witch hunt. Speaking to the Nation, Roba said that he will do everything within his reach to ensure that the nominees are approved, adding that the MCAs hinted at rejecting the names even before he presented them for vetting.“I am aware of what they (EFP) are after and this was a predetermined position which is on record and in public domain that they vowed to drop all CECs that will be presented by the governor even before the list was forwarded to assembly,” he claimed, as quoted by the local daily. The governor's remarks come after the drama witnessed at the County assembly on Thursday, with the MCAs exchanging blows. The county boss said that the MCAs have opted to punish him after he defied negotiated democracy to retain the seat in one of the most watched races at the county level. He further reminded the MCAs that they had taken an oath to serve the people of Mandera without fear or favor.
