Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has urged residents to conserve the environment as the Kiambu is the source of most or the water used in the surrounding counties.
Kabogo said that the Thika Water Company will be funded by his government to ensure the residents do not miss water whatever the season.
This comes after the water company issued an early warning to the Thika sub-county residents that they might not access water in the next two weeks if the rains fail to come.
He was speaking in Thika where he planted a tree as he opened the Kiambu County courts, which he said will reduce congestion in the Thika law courts.
His sentiments were echoed by the county executive for water and environment, Ester Njuguna, who said that the court has been established mostly for those pollute the environment in the area.
Njuguna added that in the recent days some hooligans have gone ahead to destroy the water taps put along the roads in Thika town for the public to access clean water anytime they need it.
The CeC said they have put heavy penalties on anyone caught disposing wastes and litter anyhow in the town and they will be prosecuted at the county courts as from next week.
The meeting was attended by various county and national government leaders, among them MCAs, OCPDs and the DCC Thika West.
