Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has called for peaceful elections ahead of the August polls.
Speaking on Saturday in his home county, the governor warned that a replica of the disputed 2007 general elections violence would plunge the country into an economic and social crisis.
“Let the best candidates win regardless of their party affiliation, tribe, race, color or region. We don’t want to see a post-election situation in the coming August general election” he said.
“My concern is for the winning president to be a Kenyan and a person who respects democracy, rule of law and acknowledges the existence of various political parties” he added.
The governor further challenged Kenyans to enlist as voters ahead of the second phase of the mass voter registration exercise by the IEBC starting January 16.
