Speaking in Nakuru town during the close of a three-day Youth Exhibition at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, Governor Ruto said that those in support of the proposal were ‘unrealistic’.

He said that there was nothing to a debate on the two thirds gender provision as it is a constitutional provision.

“In most set ups and institutions, the number of males and females was almost equal, and as such the two thirds gender provision should not cause any ripples so politicians should stop politicising the whole issue,’’ said Ruto.

On the Pesa Mashinani push, Governor Ruto said that he has no intentions of stoping soon because he believes that by devolving resources to the grassroots, development would be accelerated.

“I am not yet done and it is unfortunate to those wishing to have the resources retained at the national level,’’ added Ruto.

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Eng. Alex Talgos and his Nakuru County counterpart Kinuthia Mbugua joined Ruto in calling on the youth to stay focused and desist from indulging in irresponsible social behaviour.

While praising the high level of creativity displayed during the event, the three governors promised to support the improvement of youth affairs in their respective counties.

They said that with formulation of proper youth policies, it would be possible to have more youth enlisted in county governments given their strength and prowess.
