Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto will spend one more week in South Africa after a successful surgery on his cheek at a private hospital in South Africa.
Ruto was flown to South Africa last week on Tuesday after he sustained injuries while confronting police officers.
The news of his prolonged stay in South Africa was revealed on Monday even as his supporters in Bomet continued to call for action against police officer who is said to have thrown teargas canister at him.
“Ruto is still recovering at the hospital in South Africa and we expect him back in the Country next week depending on the Doctors directive,” said Bomet County Director of Information Kiprotich Samoei.
He added that Ruto was successfully operated on Thursday and the doctors are still looking after him, they will decide when to release him but tentatively by the end of this week.
