Nandi governor Stephen Sang now says there should be no discussions as to who will be the Jubilee Party presidential candidate during the 2022 general elections.

The Jubilee allied governor from the North Rift region insists that Deputy President William Ruto is the obvious candidate once President Uhuru Kenyatta completes his two terms in office.

Speaking during Mavuno Service at Tindinyo Catholic Church, Sang said the current government runs for 20 years.

"The issue of 2022 presidential candidate is not in question as it's common knowledge that after President Kenyatta completes his two terms Ruto will take over," Sang noted.

"From where I sit, any discussions on the presidential candidate will come after Ruto has completed his two terms and so anyone speaking about it now is misplaced," he added.

There have been questions over possible fallout in the Jubilee party as a section of leaders from Mt. Kenya say they are yet to decide on who to support for the country's top seat after President Kenyatta.
