Opposition outfit fifth principal and Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto has now coined a new name for NASA principal Raila Odinga following his appointment to challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection.
After many months of boardroom meetings, the opposition team settled on Odinga who is set to try his fourth and final stab at presidency.
In 2007, Odinga earned the title ‘Arap Mibei’ in Kalenjin land, a term which loosely translates to ‘someone from the river’ and scooped millions of votes from the vote rich zone.
And on Sunday at Narok, Rutto, whose CCM party would get Deputy Premier Secretary position nicknamed Odinga “Joshua Arap Mibei’ and vowed to ensure he is elected.
“We have options and I am sure NASA shall win votes in Rift Valley. I am confident that Joshua Arap Mibei will be president.
“He has the interest of Kenyans at heart and I regret that we abandoned him in 2013. This is the opportune time to rescue this country,” he added.
During the unveiling of Odinga, he insisted that he would serve as a transitional president for five years and relinquish power to other leaders.
He likened himself to the Biblical Joshua who guided Israelites from Egypt to Promised Land of Canaan.
