Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto has dismissed calls by Jubilee politicians ton have opposition leader Raila Odinga arrested as ‘cheap and misleading’.
A section of Jubilee politicians wants Odinga prosecuted following his sentiments that Maasai community should not sell land to outsiders.
And in Odinga’s defense, Rutto said the opposition leader was at liberty to defend rights of minorities without sabotage.
“I do not see any wrong when someone defends rights of minorities. If he told them not to sell land I do not see why some people should want him arrested,” he said.
The Bomet governor added: “Jubilee people are blank in ideas to an extent that they are engaging in non-issues. They cannot deal with real criminals out there instead.”
Odinga, who is running for presidency for the fourth time, is set to face President Uhuru Kenyatta in a 2013 rematch on August this year.
On his arrest, he dared Jubilee administration to prefer incitement charges against him arguing that he was familiar wit prison.
