A video circulating online involving Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto and his wife Esther Rutto has been subjected to social media criticism.

On Saturday, the outspoken governor played host to National Super Alliance leaders in his Bomet backyard.

Footages show Rutto introducing his wife on stage and moments later, he is carried by the enthusiast crowd.

Esther Rutto stands by her husband’s side with body language suggesting that she wanted to great the multitude that had attended the rally, a request which is turned down by the governor.

“This is not the day for women to talk in men’s meetings. You duty was to make food for us but there is no food because of mismanagement by Jubilee administration,” Rutto is heard telling Esther.

But in a number of social media groups, the remarks did not go well with social media users who accused the governor of disrespecting women.

“Your wife comes to stage then you dismiss her that she is not supposed to address people,” wrote Eve Gathoni in Group Kenya Face book page.

“Rutto should have at least allowed her to talk. The rally wasn’t for men because I saw some women addressing the congregation,” added Moses Okibo in Kilimani Mums and Dads.

The rally was the first in Bomet since Rutto was installed as fifth principal of the opposition outfit NASA.
