Outgoing Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto on Monday dispelled rumours that he had been admitted after losing in just concluded elections.
The outspoken former Chepalungu MP lost to outgoing Sotik MP Joyce Laboso of Jubilee in an outcome that shocked many.
And on Monday, he urged his supporters to turn out for Laboso’s inauguration scheduled on Tuesday adding that he had accepted the outcome.
“The Bomet people spoke on ballot and we cannot dispute that. We have accepted and moved on because that is the beauty of democracy,” Rutto said.
“My supporters should attend the inauguration of my competitor so that we wish her well in office. After all elections are over and people have to work together.”
Rutto was among the chief critics of DP William Ruto and may have lost due to Jubilee solid support in the Rift Valley region.
He is yet to announce his next move and chances are that he will be an active opposition leader in the next five years.
