Outgoing Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto seems to be the biggest loser of the recently concluded elections where he supported opposition NASA in a region perceived to be Jubilee stronghold.
He lost his seat to former Sotik MP Joyce Laboso of Jubilee against the expectations of many political pundits in the country.
And Gideon Mamboleo says the former county boss will have tough decisions to make in the coming months to save his political career.
“The most likely decision he will make is being consistent in politics and projecting his CCM party as an alternative in Rift Valley given the dynamics in our politics,” he says.
Mamboleo adds: “He may as well join forces with Jubilee by starting to work with DP William Ruto. This will help stabilize DP’s Rift Valley grip.”
Should have NASA won presidency, Rutto was likely to be appointed as Deputy Premier according to a coalition agreement that was reached in April.
During campaigns, he ganged up with Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng’eno to discredit the influence of DP Ruto in the region.
